Rey Manta

Rey Manta climbed to the top of a ladder and pulled down the Spinebuster PRO Heavyweight Championship at Sorry You're Not a Winner, surviving a brutal four-way ladder match against Adam Monday, Kid Koala, and R.V. Sovereign to become the promotion's new heavyweight champion. The match was contested inside The Bayou in Baton Rouge and delivered the kind of carnage that has come to define Spinebuster PRO's premium events, leaving all four competitors battered and the capacity crowd on its feet when the title belt finally changed hands.

The match unfolded with the violence that a ladder match between four of the promotion's hardest hitters demands. Monday, the owner's son and a man who has spent his entire career fighting to prove he earned his spot without his mother's help, came closer than anyone to claiming the belt on multiple occasions, only to be cut down each time by the coordinated efforts of the other three. Kid Koala's aerial game made him a constant threat whenever a ladder was upright, while Sovereign's calculated brutality kept the match from ever settling into a comfortable rhythm for any one competitor. Through it all, Manta moved with a patience and precision that ultimately proved decisive.

When the final moments arrived, Manta found himself alone on the ladder with the belt within reach. "This title belongs to me," Manta said after the match, holding the championship overhead. "It always did. Tonight just made it official."

For April Monday, the result carries a complicated weight. Her son came within inches of the championship she built this promotion around, and he did it without any help from her, which by all accounts is exactly how both of them would have wanted it. Whether that near-miss fuels Adam Monday toward another title opportunity or sends him into a darker chapter remains to be seen.

Rey Manta walks into the next chapter of Spinebuster PRO as its heavyweight champion, and the open question now is who steps up first to challenge him. With Monday, Koala, and Sovereign all carrying unfinished business from Sorry You're Not a Winner, the line for a shot at Manta may already be forming.
